AI transparency

Effective October 24, 2026

The short version. Resume import is the one feature that uses a hosted AI model: the text of a file or paste you import is sent to Anthropic, PBC once to be structured, and every line it returns is checked against your text in code before you see it. Drafts, scores and interview feedback are still generated in your browser from templates and rules. This page changes when that changes.

What is rules and what is a model

  • Cover letter and outreach drafts are built from templates plus your profile and the job title and company you entered. The pasted job link or text is parsed for a title and company; it is not read for content. A LinkedIn link whose words name a role is looked up by that title and company on the company's own public job board; when the role is found there, the job is saved from that posting.
  • Resume quality and match are rules, not a model: Quality comes from the checks listed under How the quality number is worked out with their published points, and Match, shown only when a posting is attached, is the share of the posting's requirements your resume's own text covers, weighted as listed under How the match number is worked out; attaching a posting can reveal gaps but never raises a number. Match scores on job cards are still placeholder numbers in the preview: sample jobs carry fixed scores and a job you paste gets a steady number between 70 and 82 derived from its title and company.
  • PDF and Word downloads are made by code on our server, not by a model: the PDF is printed by a headless browser that runs inside our server, with scripts and network access turned off, from the same resume layout you see in the editor, and the Word file is assembled from your resume's fields. Your resume goes to no other service to make them, and neither file is stored.
  • The mock interviewer asks questions from a fixed set for the track you choose, follows up with fixed prompts when an answer is short or has no numbers, and scores structure, pace and filler words with simple rules. The "eye contact" value is simulated; the camera is never analyzed.
  • Insiders shown for a job are illustrative examples of the kinds of people to look for. Their names are invented and their links open a LinkedIn people search, not a specific person.
  • The inbox connection in the tracker is a demonstration; no email account is connected.

Resume import

The text of the file or paste you import is sent to Anthropic, PBC once, as data to transcribe and never as instructions, with email addresses, phone numbers and links removed in code and put back afterwards. The model returns sections and bullets, and every line is checked in code against your text before it is stored, so a line your file does not contain is dropped. Email addresses, phone numbers and links are never written by a model; the name, headline and location it returns are kept only when they appear in your text. We never add invisible text, hidden keywords or instructions to a resume, and invisible characters in a resume you import are removed before you see it.

What that means for you

Treat every draft as a starting point. Check facts, dates and claims before you send anything to an employer, and never state qualifications you do not have. Scores and feedback are practice aids, not predictions of how an employer will judge you.

Who processes it

Anthropic, PBC structures imported resumes under its API terms on a tier that does not train on inputs and keeps requests for 30 days; requests carry no email address or account id, only a code derived from your account that cannot be turned back into you. Before we add another model-backed feature or another provider we will say so here and in the Privacy Policy, name the provider and describe what is sent.
